Technistone is an artificial stone or composite material, also often called as quartz. Technistone contains 90 per cent of granite and quartz sands, some of them also with mirror particles. Technistone appeared as an alternative for those who like natural stones and prefer to have practicable, nice and at the same time very sustainable worktops in their kitchens. The difference from a natural stone lies in the absency of pores, cracks and cells. Natural stones cannot be monochrome, but Technistone worktops are monochrome, snow white, brown, beige, grey and other. To get white colour white sand is additionaly bleached. The material contains polyester resin as one of the ingredients, and with colour pigments polychrome is being achieved. A recently new trend is tones of classical natural stones and marble pattern. Technistone stones do not compete with granite, though they maintain all practical peculiarities characteristic for the latter. They are applied for lining kitchen worktops, stairs, grounds, fireplaces and swimming-pools. The stones are suitable for places with heavy load, like airports, supermarkets, offices, banks and hotels. It is easy to create mosaic and various decorations combining different colours. The sizes of Technistone slabs are 3180 x 1550 mm or 3200 x 1600 mm. The whole assortment of Technistone stones are also available in sizes of tiles – 300 x 30 mm, 400 x 400 mm, 600 x 600 mm and so on. Width of slabs is 1.2 cm, 2 cm and 3 cm. The thinnest and lighest of them are used for lining kitchen walls and floors. This is very comfortable since it allows to combine stones of one title for different products.It is worth saying that minimal width of a natural stone is 2 cm. Thanks to its surface friendly to foodstuff, this material is very appropriate for kitchen worktops and bar counters. In kitchens it is actual to decorate with stones resistant to heat. The material has low water absorption coefficient and it is fire-proof.
